Born in 1971 in San Sebastian, Spain, Zako now lives on the French side of the Basque Country near Biarritz. A journey made of travels, meeting people and making discoveries, that has initially led her to the United States where she encounters snowboarding. Already familiar with skateboarding and surfing, she begins a successful snowboarder career and managed to remain in the world top 10 for 10 years.

Zako explores her dreams, in writing them down in her notebook, carefully every morning, and she’s been doing it for years. Her sports career over, she decided to materialize those images, to illustrate her writings. These suspended shapes, movements and silhouettes need to take form. Metal is going to be her voice and her medium – wire in particular. Transformable, shapeable or inlayed, it offers great versatility to give life to her imaginary.
